Introduction
Rye
is a small town situated on the south coast of England in East Sussex,
on the Kent/ Sussex border.
It
is an Ancient Town and also a Cinque Port, although it is now land
locked it was once a thriving port. It has been a favourite haunt
of smugglers and other dealers in nefarious trades, although nowadays
it is frequented more by painters and writers.
Rye
was named "Rye Royal" by Queen Elizabeth I and has been
sacked and burnt by the French, but like the proverbial phoenix
has always risen from the ashes.
I
will now take you of a virtual tour of the town, which I think is
the prettiest in the South East.
